Team Building & Collaboration

Below are a few of Project Unity's collaborative activities...

Community Partnership Board
CPB was created in 1993 to address barriers to serving families as well to identify gaps in service delivery and prevent duplication of services. Over eithty plus partner agencies continue to meet quarterly after over a decade. For a list of our Community Partners click on the green people tab, and then click the blue community partners tab.

Family Solutions
In September 2007, a group of business leaders, educators, social service representatives and faith based members began meeting twice a month to discuss ways that our community could leverage all existing resources to increase the quality of life for our citizens in need. The strategy utilized by Family Solutions is to work toward strengthening each resident’s day to day relationships. This strategy is grounded in the belief that the more successful each individual is, the better the overall community becomes. The goal of Family Solutions is to increase the level of consciousness in our community for any issue that may affect the quality of family life. A “This Way Out” luncheon was held for over 200 community members in February 2009. Family Solutions continues to meet twice a month. Volunteers interested in developing one on one relationships with individuals and families in need can participate in an 8 hour Family Partners training. The twice a year training is designed to teach the skills necessary for volunteers to feel confident when working with individuals and families with multi-faceted issues. A poverty simulation is planned in August 2009 for College Station ISD Administrators and a “Youth” Community Plunge is planned for October 2009 where leaders will “plunge” into neighborhoods knocking on doors of youth who have dropped out of school and encourage them to return to finish their education. Family Solutions meetings are usually held on Wednesday mornings at 7:30 A.M.

Community of Promise Board
Project Unity is the home for the local “Community of Promise” whose principle vision is to express the five promises that, through research, all youth need: a caring adult, a safe place, a healthy lifestyle, marketable skills and the opportunity to serve. Annual youth summits are implemented for children in grades 6-8th to empower youth with the five promises before they enter high school. Communities of Promise are identified through the national America’s Promise model.
