Jeannie McGuire

Jeannie McGuire has earned recognition in her fields of expertise over the past twenty years. In 1997, she was awarded “Social Worker of the Year” in Texas. From 1998-2008, Ms. McGuire was a Governor Appointee to the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners. She served on the Ethics committee during her 10 year tenure and was appointed by the Governor to be the Presiding Officer of the Board from 2003-2008. Upon Ms. McGuire’s departure from the Board, she was awarded the international Sunny Andrews Award for “Exemplary Social Work Regulatory Board Service”. The award is given annually to up to two people throughout the United States and Canada. Currently, Ms. McGuire is recognized by the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners for Independent Non Clinical Practice and is a Board Approved Supervisor for Independent Non -Clinical Practice.

Ms. McGuire’s community activism has been spotlighted throughout several media venues, i.e. newsprint, magazines, radio, video, TV appearances. She appears in a documentary by New Spark Media, “Where There Is a Will...There Will Be A Living Wage”, as well as in “Putting Children First”, a 16 minute professional video that accompanies The Children’s Campaign Report, developed and distributed by Texans Care for Children.

Ms. McGuire is the founder and President of Unity Partners dba Project Unity, a non profit organization. On behalf of Project Unity, Ms. McGuire secures over 1.5 million annually in grants and contracts from local, state, and federal sources. Ms. Mcguire has expertise specifically with natural disaster evacuees. Project Unity secured National Emergency Grants, United Way grants and Community Development Block Grant funds to provide case management services to Katrina evacuees relocating to the seven county region of the Brazos Valley.

Ms. McGuire’s keen insight into the opportunities and challenges of forming and maintaining collaborative partnerships in the health and human service arena is exemplified through her ability to sustain a collaboration of over 80 health and human service programs for the past 16 years. Throughout those 16 years, Ms. McGuire has gained expertise and knowledge in what makes collaborations work well for the greater good of the clients they serve.

Utilizing Project Unity as the foundation of competent case management practice, Ms. McGuire has created an innovative web-based case management system of care, called Intake One. With Intake One, case managers provide the full spectrum of services to vulnerable individuals and families while supervisors oversee their work via a computer screen.

Ms. McGuire graduated summa cum laude from Texas Tech University in 1979 with her BA degree in Social Work. Ms. McGuire graduated summa cum laude from Capella University in 2004 with her MS degree in Human Services, Specializing in Non Profit-Management.
