How to Help Project Unity... VOLUNTEER!

Who:
Project Unity is looking for energetic volunteers to help our agency flourish. We DO accept court-ordered/community service volunteers. Project Unity conducts a criminal history check on all volunteers and if an offense has been committed against a child or an elder, this will disqualify you from volunteering. The organization upholds the right to use discretion regarding this matter. For many of the families we serve, English is a second language and we welcome bilingual volunteers.

What:
The type of work available ranges from office work (filing, document shredding, copying and collating, assisting with mass mail-outs) to physical labor (stocking and filling grocery bags, breaking down boxes, sorting and folding clothing and household linens, table and chair set-up for meetings, cleaning, collecting trash, patching and painting). Additionally, Safe Harbour’s supervised visitation program offers volunteer opportunity as a monitor (required training is provided).

When:
Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (and Saturday for Safe Harbour monitors). We are always in need of volunteers for our food pantry EVERY month (a two-day opportunity - preparation on the second Wednesday followed by the pantry on the second Friday.)

Where & How:
Our administrative office is at 4001 E. 29th Street, Bryan, Texas. To inquire, call us at 979 595-2900 or stop in at that location. The process is a simple application form that includes information necessary for the background check (we’ll need to make a copy of your driver’s license). Even when the volunteer assistance is at one of our other locations, initial check-in is at the 29th St. office. This helps us determine assignments and track hours.

Why:
Project Unity exists for help…for hope… Volunteers play a vital role in enabling Project Unity, as a non-profit organization, to be as effective as possible. The more people that care about our communities and the families that live here, the healthier and more productive we can be at raising our families to care for one another.

Vision: Project Unity helps families help themselves by strengthening, empowering and safely preserving each family member..
