How to Help Project Unity

VOLUNTEER!

Who:
Project Unity is looking for energetic volunteers to help our agency flourish. Volunteers can come in any shape or form. We DO accept court-ordered / community service volunteers. Project Unity conducts a criminal history check on all volunteers. Volunteers will be excluded if an offense against a child has been committed. The organization upholds the right to use discretion regarding this matter. We also expect for all volunteers to dress in a conservative manner.

What:
Type of work available ranges from office work, to physical help. Some examples of volunteer activities include: office duties such as filing, paper shredding, organizing children's books, collating packets, light housekeeping such as taking out trash, stocking and filling bags with food, and unloading and emptying boxes for our food pantry day, sorting and folding clothes to be given away to clients, assisting with organizing toys and games, cleaning donations such as toys, setting up tables and chairs for meetings, copying, faxing, and updating family folders, newsletter and brochure assistance, organizing upcoming events, and assisting with mass mail-outs. Bilingual volunteers are VERY beneficial.

When:
Monday through Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Since our food pantry is the second Friday of EVERY month, we are always in need of volunteers on the second Friday of every month. We also spend the second Wednesday of every month preparing for food pantry day, and we can always use volunteers at that time as well. Please call ahead at 979-775-6788, anytime before you come, so that we can make that we have tasks ready and available for you.

Where:
Volunteers will need to report to the main Project Unity office at: 1400 Beck St., Bryan, TX each time for volunteering. If we need volunteer assistance at a different location, volunteers will still need to meet at the Beck St. location first to receive their assignment. We track all volunteer hours, and so to make this as efficient as possible, checking in at the Beck St. Office is key.

Why:
Project Unity exists for help…for hope… Volunteers play a vital role in enabling Project Unity, as a non-profit organization, to be as effective as possible. The more people that care about our communities and the families that live here, the healthier and more productive we can be at raising our families to care for one another.

How:
Simply call or email Ella McGruder here at the Project Unity main office to get involved: 979-775-6788. You will then need to come by the office at 1400 Beck St., Bryan, TX, to fill out a volunteer application. We will also need to make a copy of your driver's license so be sure and bring that with you as well. Be prepared to come and volunteer by arriving with a great attitude and a willingness to work.

Vision: Project Unity helps families help themselves.

Mission: Project Unity strengthens, empowers and preserves families.
